The End Of A MMO Cycle

Yes, we are already at an end of  a cycle in the world of Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOs). Believe it or not, the time to pay monthly to play MMO is running out. We cannot afford to pay month after month for MMO games, not if we can help it. So I think after many articles, the time is right and the cycle which many now know as the death of monthly MMO games is before us. People are just tired of paying each month for something they can already get for free. Whilst some may attribute this trend to the increasing popularity of smartphone games or even the advent of the internet, the main reason is yet unclear. In fact, if asked, many would just prefer paying a minimum sum so they can decide each time, instead of a monthly fee.

The good news however, is that today we already have many companies in the competitive market of MMO games offering these alternatives to players. First of all, the initial games are usually free (which is something gamers tend to like). This means that only when players are immersed in the game are they required to pay for coins, points, or resources. Depending on the game, those players who want or need to increase their options or add more functionalities are then served with an option to upgrade their profiles or game session. Consequently, the money spent on MMO games can be brought under control, meaning that users no longer have to pay for a game when for example, they won’t be able to play on for a long period of time or when they simply are no longer enjoying it.

MMO games at plarium.com is a very good example of this latest approach. Indeed, Plarium games are designed to work exactly as described above. Their MMO games have been designed such that only after getting in and being sure that you like the game and want to advance on it are you invited to spend some money to upgrade your experience. What’s more? Doing so is neither compulsory nor fixed. As a result, you will get what you want when you want it and this can only lead to a better MMO gaming experience.
